Overview

The UCI School of Medicine Second Annual Clinical Psychopharmacology Conference provides an updated and targeted approach to the treatment of common psychiatric disorders related to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, insomnia and others. This course provides valuable and evidence-based updates for psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, as well as advanced topic learning for primary care providers who wish to improve their knowledge with use of psychotropic medication management in the busy primary care setting. Students and psychiatry residents are welcome to attend and participate in specially designed “Resident/Student Corner” sessions.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Provide a foundational overview of psychopharmacological treatment in those with behavioral health conditions.
  2. Discuss novel treatments for those struggling with behavioral health conditions.
  3. Provide standard of care approaches to enhance and understand individualized levels of motivation to optimize care.
  4. Discuss the importance of recognizing mental health related stigma and how this can adversely influence care.
  5. Provide a framework for treatment of the following conditions: Depression, anxiety, insomnia, psychosis, movement disorders and others.
