Core Competencies: This activity will encompass the following desirable physician attributes: • Patient Care & Procedural Skills • Interpersonal & Communication Skills • Medical Knowledge • Practice-Based Learning & Improvement • Professionalism • Systems-Based Practice Desired Outcomes: • Adhere to the most current AJCC and NCCN established guidelines and standards of care in cancer diagnosis, staging, testing, imaging, treatment, new medications, and technologies • Provide thorough and accurate pre-treatment workups before referring patients to sub-specialty care • Consider the psychosocial aspect of the cancer patient, and provide before and after treatment assessments and survivorship plans appropriately • Assess the health literacy of patients and their families and communicate effectively, using translation and language resources when appropriate, to ensure understanding of the diagnosis and treatment • Consider the socioeconomic needs of each patient by presenting them with all available options, and address any implicit biases, healthcare disparities, and barriers to optimal care

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Adhere to the most current AJCC and NCCN established guidelines and standards of care in cancer diagnosis, staging, testing, imaging, treatment, new medications, and technologies
  2. Provide thorough and accurate pre-treatment workups before referring patients to sub-specialty care
