Overview
CME lectures are held for UCI and community surgeons to enhance surgical knowledge and provide updated information on the latest advancements in surgical techniques, research, and patient care within the Department of Surgery. These grand rounds lectures offer an opportunity for surgeons to stay current with cutting-edge procedures, discuss complex cases, and explore innovative approaches across various surgical subspecialties.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Improve the overall care of our surgical patients, particularly those who have terminal diseases or are at the end-of-life stage.
  2. Evaluate and analyze new surgical techniques in the treatment of select general surgical diseases and discuss and evaluate these interventions.
  3. Identify and evaluate new and innovative research findings in general surgery; to critically analyze these contributions and to relate these findings into current clinical practice
  4. Decrease common & uncommon complications seen after treatment of specialty’s general surgery diseases.
  5. Analyze advances and reinforce their use in the selective circumstances in the care of general surgical patients.

Accreditation

University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
