Overview
This yearly conference provides a review of the assessment and treatment of cognition for individuals with severe mental illness within a forensic hospital environment.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Assess and treat patients with intellectual disability and schizophrenia.
  2. Apply developmentally appropriate communication and diagnostic techniques.
  3. Recognize and address cultural and linguistic biases that may affect the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with Intellectual Disability.

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine and California Department of State Hospitals. The University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
